Benefit Cap reduced from 7th November 2016: property price will affect!

There’s a limit on the total amount of benefit that most people aged 16 to 64 can get. This is called the benefit cap. Benefit cap limits before 7 November 2016 was £500 per week for single parents and couples.:

Benefit cap in London per week £442.31

Benefit cap outside London per week £384.62


However, you’re not affected by the cap if you or your partner work, and either of the following apply:

  • you or your partner are eligible for Working Tax Credit (does not necessarily claim)

  • you or your partner get Universal Credit, and your household income is more than £430 a month.
